Just wanted to let everyone know that it is possible to ask for a 400% cli on Best Buy store card and be approved after only 6 months of having opened account. I was approved for $1000 limit on January 17, 2015 and I hit the luv button online today asking for $4000 increase and was approved in less than an hour.

To be clear my credit isn't in great shape my Trans Union score according to credit tracker by Capital One I have a 675 score. This is my highest credit limit card now followed by Capital One Quicksilver One rewards card with a limit of $2750 which I've had for 3 years. I've also applied for credit limit increase with my credit union today. I applied 2 years ago and was denied so crossing my fingers ;-p

I ha e a Best Buy cc with a CL of $1500 and about 6 months ago used it all up. My current balance is $1000 with 0% Apr for 12 more months. This has been hurting my credit because of utilization. So last night decided to ask for a $3000k CLI and 4 hours later got an email saying they approved me. I'm at $4500 now and it was a soft pull.

Update: so I just got that EQ inquiry and it has been about 24hrs from the CLI.

Mine was a HP. and every other report I've seen here was also a HP.

Congratulations! I did the same thing a few months ago -- I asked for my credit limit to be $5000 (a 4k increase) and it was approved, but it was a hard pull. You might want to wait another day or 2 to see if the hard pull hits your credit report. They pulled EQ for me.

It'll be interesting to see in a day or so if it shows up. You are the first I've ever heard of getting a requested CLI through citi Best Buy with a SP. It was a HP for me for two different CLI requests on my Best Buy, the most recent being about a month ago.

Now what I have found is, if you request an additional CLI within 30 days, they'll use the same HP from the first request (in case one wants to see if they could bump it up a little more)

Great card if you PIF during promo

I've had the My Best Buy (Citibank) Credit Card for a few years now. The application process was simple. I was originally approved for $1200 CL, and my CK score at the time was around 680. I got an auto CLI to $2200 after a year or so, and just recently got another auto CLI to $3300. I've purchased quite a bit of stuff (TV's, laptop, smart watch, etc) and have never paid a cent of fees of interest because I use the 12, 18 or 24 month "special financing" (no interest if paid in full), and pay everything off..if I can't afford the monthly payments I don't buy it! I get things when they're on sale, and Apple products are cheaper at Best Buy than buying from from Apple.

I'm certain having this card has helped build my credit (CK score is now 780). If you like or need electronics (and can afford monthly payments), this is a great choice.

I applied for the Best Buy store card online and was directed to call-in for more information. After about 5 minutes and some ID verification, I was approved $2000 and was offered a choice of the store card or the Visa card. I think its a fair CL and the fact that I got a Visa makes it convenient. My scores are 650 (lowest) to 694 (highest).

My credit limit was decreased by $1000 without warning. I found out when I went online to make a purchase and it was declined. When I called I was told it was decreased because of two delinquent payments. Mind you they were a week late. I paid more than the minimum payment each month and even made a $500 payment a month before they decreased my credit limit. I find it strange that out of all of my other credit cards, Best Buy is the only one to decrease my limit because of a late payment.

That sucks. but you can't really blame them for you paying late can you? I guarantee somewhere in their underwriting it states that if you are late on any payments you are subject to a balance decrease. Trust me I feel for you, and their techniques are shady and unethical. But, you did pay late which most credit cards frown upon. Always read the fine print and know your cards details. This will save you a ton of hassle in the future. Wish you all the best.

They start calling you BEF day it's due.

9 out of ten times the website does not work and the harass you to make payments by check over phone. They start calling you BEFORE it's due, EVEN IF YOU HAVE A PAYMENT ALREADY SCHEDULED. Predatory.

Was set up for auto payments each month. I always check my available balance before doing large purchases. I made a purchase of less than half my available balance. The next month, my automatic momthly payment went through in the form of $750 (usually $90) with NO warning because I had 'gone above my limit' which is apparently different than my available limit. I called to make light of this and the customer support rep was a COMPLETE jerk. She went out of her way to make the call as miserable as she could. I'm cancelling this card and will never go back.

You can actually call and speak with the disputes department (it's a step above customer service) to have the money above your minimum sent out to you. Used to work for this company.

Simply put, they WILL NOT tell you they've closed your account or even offer to work with you if you're having issues financially. They closed mine when my account expired due to stuff they allegedly found on my credit report back around the time the card expired, again without any notice. The only reason I found out was when I called months later to figure out why I didn't get a replacement as I was making a payment. As soon as I pay this card's balance off I will not be reapplying under any circumstances. I will pay with cash if I need to buy anything from the best buy store. The store itself I have no problems with, but the service side from this card is abysmal at best.

Customer Service is deplorable. Rewards are almost nonexistent. Don't waste your time; get a legitimate card (Like Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Freedom, Capital One Venture or Amex Platinum).

DON'T DO THE MONTHS NO INTEREST!!

The ONLY way this card is beneficial with the no interest is if you don't use it for anything else. Pay it off before using it. High Interest Rates otherwise. We were making payments forever not realzing that our promotional balance wasn't being paid AT ALL. They wanted us to pay extra in order to put it towards that. So as time is ticking away, we're thinking our promotional balance is getting paid off, but nope. We have to come up with $600+ all at once to pay it off and make the normal monthly payment all at once. WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN. I hate credit cards that try to manipulate the system to get more money out of you. Aren't they happy that we're using it at all and they're getting money from us regardless? and at such huge interest rates.

I got this card about three years ago when buying a new tv at Best Buy. Approval was quick and easy, and I was given a 6000 limit. The day after I ordered the tv, I changed my mind and wanted to go with the next model up. I went to Best Buy to make that change. The charge for the original tv was already pending on the card, and the cost of the replacement tv added up to more than 6000. However, a quick call to Citi from the Best Buy salesperson took care of that, and citi accepted the charge for the replacement tv even though the original tv purchase had not yet been credited. It made the whole experience much easier for me, and I appreciated both Best Buy and Citi working with me.

I use the card for most of my regular monthly purchases, and pay the balance in full each month, so there are no interest charges. This works out great. I usually accumulate about $20.00 each month in Rewards point just for non-Best Buy purchases (my normal monthly purchases like groceries, gasoline, regular shopping and dining out.). This is on top of Rewards points I receive for purchases from Best Buy. This has saved me lots of money on tech purchases. I love walking into Best Buy with $100 or even $200 in Rewards points! I have not had much experience with customer service beyond receiving calls when a purchase is flagged as potential fraud.

The interest isn't worth it, I recommend getting a card with your local bank rather than with Best Buy. I have two credit cards with my bank and one with best buy. I prefer using my bank credit cards over best buy as the best buy credit card actually charges you more in interest and the rewards aren't that great.

I have this card now, and I am canceling. Best Buy will lose a lot in sales over this.

I had my credit card stolen after a year. I rarely use this card so that is extremely weird. After speaking to a representative that called me, I was told that I would be mailed out a new card. Instead just before leaving for vacation I get a letter saying I had to send a copy of my drivers license and a police report. Why? They said they stopped all transactions. Oh, they lied.

If you read the form carefully they try to have you pay for it by just signing. I almost fell for that trap. Why should I pay for their mistake?

Calling customer service does not help either. You just hear, we will look into this.

I have never had this happen, but it is time to cancel and go Discover.
