I read all the negative reviews on this page, thought I should write my experience. Flash back Dec 2012. I had an Auto note with BB&T for a car loan at 7.5 APR, I approached DCU with a credit score 685, they gave me a car loan at 2.49 - .5 i.e. 1.99% with a direct deposit. Huge win, I have been a DCU customer for past 5 years, 3 auto notes, with 1 closed, I never had a better experience with any other bank in united states

Only complaint is DCU should bring back their 1.49 with Direct Deposit Auto APR back, I will have my next auto note on you then. :)

Terrible technology, poor training.

If you move from out of their area or plan to move away from the area you should AVOID. Their web app goes down constantly and it is impossible to transfer money from outside area bank in a timely manner. All I wanted to do was wire transfer 10k from my original bank to DCU to buy a truck. They made it an absolute end-to-end nightmare. Website never works, and employees are nice but unhelpful. Why they can't allow wire transfers the easy way like every other bank I don't understand. Take it from me, if you need to transfer money to a DCU account from another bank there will probably be a bunch of issues and poor assistance. It's INSANE.

These reviews were written by current and former account holders in the last year.

They take your overdraft away without telling you after 17 days of being in a negative balance. Wait and hold times are extremely long when calling! Sometimes they even just hang up on you after 5 pm even though you may have already waited an hour to speak to someone. Also the basically called me a liar after listening to a recorded phone call that I know had the info the needed to back up my grievence ..they wouldnt let me listen and a supervisor would not get on the phone with me! I closed my acct!

The worst experienceI have ever had!

Someone had access to my account and made fraudulent charges and they held me responsible. They are rude and I knowledgeable over the phone. It took me 7 phone calls and hours of being on hold to figure out what was going on.

Incredibly incompetent and they don’t care at all about their customers. AT ALL.

I seriously regret openingan account there. Stay away from them and just go to a real bank.

To top it off, whenI applies, they sent my membership number and details to the wrong address! And I am here wondering why my account was compromised.

I'm not really sure what all these reviews are about no customer service, I have never had an issue with reaching an actual person in all the years I have belonged with DCU, either on phone or in chat. All my car and home equity loans are through DCU, they have the lowest fees and they don't nickel and dime you, which is what made me switch from my last bank. When opening my HELOC the associates were very attentive and updated me throughout the process, never an issue on any of my closings. All my car loans are paid on line, even if you pay (transfer $) just before midnight on the day it is due, there are no late fees.

ATM fees are reimbursed up to $5 a month if you use ones that charge you. Easy to open new account and share with other members (as I do with my kids) if you need that. Mobile check deposits through app. Almost every aspect of banking that I do is done online through their website or app, they both work very well. Their app is not the most fancy, but is just works and gets the job done.

DCU is my primary bank and would recommend them to anyone. I would seriously look at them and consider DCU as your primary bank if you are looking.

Not sure if all the negative reviews are bogus but many of these issues could be user errors or the way that banking transfers are regulated by the gov't but they blame the bank for the delays and issues they have. I belong to a few other banks and DCU is by far my favorite.

Easy to apply, easy to get loans

They give really decent rates on car loans. Have had no issues with making payments. Their software for their ac****s could be a little more user-friendly, but overall it's ok. If you apply for more than one loan product, they will use one hard pull to decide both if done within 30 days of each other.

Worst Credit Union with stupid CEO.

Never open an account with them. They return your checks and charge you overdraft fee even though they have your salary through direct deposit. They will first return your check, charge youoverdraft fees and then credit your salary.

The DCU app may not be the greatest of them all. and being a customer for over a year now, using it remotely (not once seen a branch/facility), getting an Auto Loan as a first time buyer with a credit score of 705 got me a 2.45% APR. Unbeatable. Undisputed. You will defninitly have issues with DCU if you use them are you main banking provider, however they have solved the issue of ATMs by making it possible to use Other Credit Union ATMs around the US for instant withdrawals and deposits without a fee. I don't call in too often so really can't comment on the customer service experience, but the initial application process for the auto loan was seamless and got approved instantly over the phone. Looking for exceptional rates in an industry full of 23.99% APR minimum, DCU would be your green light for lower rates.

constantly shutting my account off for fraud. when the transactions were ligitimate. and then allowing a fraudulent charge through!!

Maybe it's just this particular branch (Littleton), but the customer service is awful. Every thing is made so complicated when doing something as simple as changing my last name on my account to my married name. Even though you have a marriage certificate, you still need to give up a kidney, your first born and a pint of blood. After that, there is a list of more frustrating steps to take because yes, I have all day.

Seriously try to get anything done over the phone and it’s almost ALWAYS a 30-45 minutes wait. Opt for the call back and you will hear back from someone only 50% of the time.

i have never ever experienced anything like this with a bank. If you have a banking question that needs immediate assistance concerning your money you should be able to talk to someone in under an hour!! I’ll be leaving. Other thins are good at DCU, but this is uneexceptible

"I started as a part-time teller two years ago and after a year when a full-time position opened at a branch closer to home, my manager recommended me for the position and I got it. The only hard part about leaving the branch was the many friendships I made with my fellow co-workers. I made friends at the new branch that was easy as everybody welcomed me and made me feel part of their team. I found that working at a credit union is much less stressful than working at another type of financial institution. Ive had my fair share of jobs at big banks and other credit unions. I think this has a lot to do with the fact that DCU is a not-for-profit company that is in business to help their members.Like any other type of job, we were expected to reach certain goals and although it was a little challenging at times, having members that come in the branch on a regular basis made it easy because I was on a first name basis with them and overall they were very happy with the products that DCU offers.DCU has really good traditional employee benefits (medical, dental, vacation) which are second to none. 3 weeks vacation. There are some off the wall benefits that they make available to all employees like free concert and sports tickets. I have to say the best part of the job was the people. From the Training Department to the Account Services Department, it didnt matter who I worked with, the people at DCU always treated me right. I left DCU a few months ago when my husbands company relocated him for a job in a different part of the country - its too bad DCU doesnt have a branch on the West Coast. I have to say the last two years were rewarding and a great work experience."

"I found the interview with HR fairly inaccurate but you will eventually hit a manager of that department that knows at least something of the job pander to this person."
